After 3 days in the car, we walked a 5-mile trail with 7 waterfalls on it. Some of the paths lead behind the falls. The rock in the area is volcanic laid over a softer previous layer, so there are ledges of harder igneous sticking out, while the rock below is cut away by water action.

May 14: Silver Falls, Oregon
Silver Falls is a beautiful little park that one of Dave's uncles said is a must-see. It's true. We spent 2 nights in a 2-room cabin in the State Park, with microwave and fridge, for $35 per night. The back half contained a bunk bed and a double bed, and the front half held a small table and a fold-out couch. We highly recommend it. There are cabins with wheelchair access, and others with a large deck out front. They're lovely little log buildings. Unfortunately, I forgot to take a picture of our temporary home.

Silver Falls is in the coastal rainforest, very lush and full of weeds that are more beautiful than my prairie garden plants. Or else they are garden plants, to most prairie gardeners.

Hi there, I follow your blog and was delighted to see a familiar place. We have a similar picture of Silver Falls, as we lived near there until this year. Great blog, Christa
